Chilling Thundering Bass

13 Mar

When I hear big booms I am prone to think of activities in my old neighborhood, raging house parties, bass-loving drag racers, the weird guy who used to busk outside of the 99 Cent Only store down the block.  So this morning, when I went outside and caught the faint undercurrent of low thundering, I immediately looked for jolly hooligans.  Alas, all I found was Blue Lake, stark and sunny, and apparently fracturing its ice layer every which way.  Perhaps this is a natural happening for this thawing time of year, and yet, just two days ago, construction workers were driving pick up trucks and  mini bull dozers across the lake.  Are the Blue Lake floes ready to melt or are they just getting into the extra-creepy Friday the 13th spirit?
