Two Turkeys…

17 Apr

…jumped out of the woods near Harbinger Alley and waddled, coming from a residential neighborhood to the north, in front of west-bound rush hour traffic on Blue Lake Road on April 14th.  The turkeys were enormous, one he and one she, standing close to four feet tall and weighing at least 60 lbs each.

In other bird news:

  • A huge pileated woodpecker has been feasting upon suet while scaring away all of its small bird competitors.  I’ve seen about four pileated woodpeckers hanging around the woods near my house.
  • A flock of Canadian geese honked their way through the wild blue yonder, heading, judging from Doppler conditions, north-west of Blue Lake.

AJJ – My dream is to still be doing this in a few years… well, maybe without the -50 degree winters. Maybe one of these days I’ll learn how to play the ukelele too!
