Big Bike Weekend

21 Sep

Big wheels kept on turnin’ in the BLMA this weekend as man-powered bikes went head-to-head against gasoline-powered bikes in a Wheel in the Woods versus Tomahawk Fall Ride for MDA touring showdown. The Arbor Vitae-Woodruff School hosted the 2nd annual Wheel in the Woods event which provided a 15 to 100 mile cycling tour through Vilas and Oneida Counties. Miles 84 through 89 brought bicyclists down Blue Lake Road to Agawak Road and beyond as families enjoyed the outdoors while raising money for AV-W students. The 28th annual Tomahawk Fall Ride for MDA brought 40,000 or so motorcycling – particularly Harley Davidson – enthusiasts all over the BLMA and the Northwoods with riders raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The Tomahawk Fall Ride is the largest motorcycle gathering in the state.
