No Winter Parking on Blue Lake Island Road

Alas, a remote mea culpa, in that I am a season late for posting and following up on this. (Happy spring, everyone!)

No Parking signs officially greeted Blue Lake Island Road folks late this past winter as Minocqua officials sprang into action amid concerns of ice fishing-related  parking bottlenecks on narrow Blue Lake roads.

On February 2nd, the Minocqua Board of Supervisors spoke with Public Works Superintendent Butch Welch about the issue of no parking on Blue Lake Island Road. Soon thereafter, no parking signs were erected along the sides of the portaging hot spot.  According to the town’s meeting minutes:

BLUE ISLAND LAKE ROAD-NO PARKING
Joe Jordans and other residents were present requesting no parking on Blue Lake Island Road.  Butch Welch stated that there is a problem with vehicles parked on the road making it difficult for maintenance and emergency vehicles to pass.  The problem appears to be in the winter when ice fishermen are parking on the road to access Blue Lake.  It was decided to amend the parking ordinance to include a winter restriction for no parking on Blue Lake Island Road and W. Blue Lake Road.

Presumably, normal parking ordinances will go into effect this spring.

Thanks to TC for the photo and the updated information.
