Drew Milkent Passes Away

Very sad news as Drew Milkent, a dynamic part of the Blue Lake family, has passed away.

Milkent, Andrew W. “Drew” Found peace Friday, March 23, 2012. Age 24. Beloved son of William and Nan. Dear brother of Audra (Chad) Watson. Godfather of Brett. Fiance of Julianne Zaumseil. Grandson of Barbara and the late Robert Milkent, and the late Rudy and the late Audrey Hoppe and Mary Hoppe. Also loved by many relatives and friends. Visitation at CROSS OF LIFE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 20700 W. North Ave., Monday, March 26, 3PM-6:45PM. Funeral Service 7PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to the Milwaukee County Zoo or the Elmbrook Human Society. Family and friends were very important to Drew. He enjoyed coaching soccer and barefooting on calm water. Drew loved the zoo, walks with his dogs, sports, watching eagles fly and shenanigans. “Until we meet again “

EDITOR’S NOTE: I remember Drew as a very young boy, maybe about 5 years old, playing with his cousins and sister, Audra, at Blue Lake, running around in a constantly-moving pack of kids through the woods and on the lakeshore, as often happens throughout generations fortunate to spend some time during the summer at the lake.  I also remember his amazing athletic talent as a part of the awesome waterskiing spectacular that emerged from north Blue Lake starting in the late ’90s.  I live on a part of the lake that becomes very calm in the early evening and we would often be delighted in the summer by barefooters swishing by on the smooth water right before the sunset.  How they do it, I’ll never know!  Drew is sorely missed around the lake.

Yesterday, in the early evening, I heard the eagles calling overhead so I walked down to the shore.  This picture is dedicated to Drew and his family:
